About the Role
At Naring Health, our mission is to empower everyone to access individualized clinical and molecular data to manage and make informed decisions about their health proactively. Naring Health pairs personalized bioactive food formulations with next-generation blood-based diagnostic testing to treat and monitor chronic inflammatory diseases. As a research associate or senior research associate, you will develop sample processing and analytical technologies across various mission-critical project lines, including bioactive compound discovery/quantification in complex food matrices and blood-based clinical testing. You will apply broad bench laboratory skill-sets in sample processing and compound extraction to move the program’s technical base forward, including the development of standard techniques to process various complex sample matrices for downstream analysis of proteins, metabolites, and lipids. Together, we will make regular health monitoring, early disease detection, and personalized care a reality for every individual, improving lives and transforming healthcare along the way.
Requirements
High-level responsibilities for this role:
Develop standardized methods for processing a wide range of whole food material (fruits, vegetables, roots, herbs, etc.) for the extraction of bioactive compounds of interest for downstream LCMS analysis
Stay up-to-date with the field and continually assess novel approaches that could be deployed in-house to move our technical program forward.
Assist with and take ownership of day-to-day lab activities, including solvent preparation and maintenance of various lab equipment and instrumentation
Collaborate effectively with senior scientists and engineers to integrate pre-analytical innovations with downstream molecular analyses
What you’ll bring to the table:
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree (or equivalent industry experience) in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, food science, environmental science, or a related field, with specific expertise in food and/or clinical specimen handling
1+ years (Research Associate) or 3+ years (Senior Research Associate) of full-time laboratory experience in the life sciences and/or food sciences (industry and/or academia)
Experience with various methods for chemical extraction of compounds of interest from complex sample matrices
Knowledge and understanding of QuECHERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe) sample preparation methods is desired but not required
Experience with methods for processing whole blood, plasma, and other clinical specimens for downstream multiomics testing is desired but not required.
Previous experience in regulated testing or quality control laboratory environment, as evidenced by knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP), is desirable but not required.
Strong documentation skills and close attention to detail
Strong communication skills, eagerness to collaborate with researchers from different disciplines, and a comfort level with the flexibility and dynamic nature of working at an early-stage start-up
